თბილისი პრაიდი

Tbilisi Pride is a queer organization operating in Georgia, which works to create an equal and free environment for LGBTQ+ people by putting the challenges of the community on the political agenda, strengthening the community and changing public opinion. To achieve the set mission and goals, Tbilisi Pride uses visibility policy as its main tool.

We present to you the overview of Tbilisi Pride in November 2023:

  • Strategic planning meeting with the organization’s employees, board members, and activists. Within the framework of the 2-day workshop, Tbilisi Pride team and allies summarized the past working year, discussed the political and social challenges of the queer community in the perspective of 2024, outlined the most important and priority issues of the next year, and developed a new strategy based on the analysis.
  • The Drag Ball: Divas. Tbilisi Pride, together with the organizing group of the Drag Ball, hosted another drag ball at the club Mtkvarze. The event took place on November 25. The members of the Tbilisi Pride team addressed the audience and talked about the importance of fighting against violence against women and girls and nominated the chosen queen of Tbilisi Pride “Venom”, who presented an exceptionally authentic, emotional, political drag performance to the audience. The winner of the drag ball became KY Cygni.
  • Within the framework of the “Proud Families” project, the organization started receiving a new stream of parents and/or other family members of LGBTQ+ people. Within the framework of the project, families will get to know and strengthen each other, benefit from the services of professional psychologists and receive support to further empower their queer family members.
  • Tbilisi Pride held four community meetings in November, including: rock climbing, film screening and discussion, and a drag makeup workshop with a drag queen Gerilyn Stone.
  • Three informational, analytical articles were published on the website of Tbilisi Pride, for example, in connection with the Day of Remembrance of Transgender People, and the Day of Fighting AIDS. An article was also prepared on gender and sexuality for families of queer people and other interested parties.
