Tbilisi Pride — Review of December, 2023

თბილისი პრაიდი

Tbilisi Pride is a queer organization operating in Georgia, which works to create an equal and free environment for LGBTQ+ people by putting the challenges of the community on the political agenda, strengthening the community and changing public opinion. To achieve the set mission and goals, Tbilisi Pride uses visibility policy as its main tool.

We present to you the overview of Tbilisi Pride in December 2023:

  • “Proud Families” training — about 15 new parents joined the project and participated in a 3-day training. The training included therapy sessions with psychologists and educational sessions with LGBTQI activists — new parents got to know each other, share their experiences, and learn more about LGBTQI+ issues.
  • Meeting of regional activists — the organization started building a network of regional activists interested in LGBTQI issues. One of the first steps was gathering up to 20 activists from 9 regions. At the meeting, the reality in the regions, challenges, opportunities and resources in relation to LGBTQI issues were assessed in each region.
  • The Drag Ball: All-Stars — on December 29, “Tbilisi Pride” together with the drag ball initiative group hosted another year-end night, with about 1700 guests. The event was opened by Creams and Kordz. Before the start of the Ball, the guests were presented with a video address by Nani Bregvadze.
