Aprili Media presents the Unlawful podcast
Since gaining independence, Georgia has not become a state in which the law is supreme, and recently, everything that was part of freedom of expression yesterday, has been declared illegal with lightning speed. In this podcast, we will talk about the illegalities of the authorities, how society reacts to repression and terror, and how we imagine the transformation of our country into a state.
Tinatin Noghaideli’s debut book Moustaches was published in 2024. The work is autofiction and, among other things, reflects the author’s childhood and adulthood experiences. According to the author herself, the book tells about the experience of being a minority, as well as the gender expectations imposed on women and men and the peculiarities of Georgia in the 90s. The protagonist of Moustaches tells in the first person stories of her childhood in Adjara, feelings of shame and guilt, prohibitions imposed at every step, the desire to escape and integrate.
In the first episode of the second season of the Unlawful podcast, we talk with Tinatin Noghaideli, winner of the Litera award, about the topics that Moustaches touches on and about writing at a time when homophobic and censorship laws are in effect in the country.
A new episode of the podcast will be released every Tuesday at 7:00 PM on our YouTube and Spotify channels.
