At the initiative of the Equality Movement and with the financial support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, a 3-day outdoor meeting of LGBTQ+ activists will be held at the end of February 2024, where activists will discuss the challenges they face and talk about the strategies for developing stress resistance.
“The political instrumentalization of homophobia is one of the important reasons for the vulnerability and insecurity of the LGBTQ+ community. Members and activists of the LGBTQ+ community not only personally face negative, often hostile attitudes based on prejudices and stereotypes, but also have to support and empower other members of the LGBTQ+ community, sharing their needs and concerns. Living and working in such conditions leads to emotional burnout related to stressful factors,” notes the organization in the description of the event.
The 3-day camp is intended for those who protect and/or advocate for LGBTQ+ rights on a public or individual level and who want to participate in a type of meeting that will help them develop the skills and techniques needed to reduce and overcome stress while performing activism related activities.
The estimated date of the activist camp is February 20-21-22, 2024 (Kakheti). Those who are interested can fill out the registration form on the website of the organization. The deadline for receiving applications is February 15.
