თბილისი პრაიდი

Tbilisi Pride is a queer organization operating in Georgia, which works to create an equal and free environment for LGBTQ+ people by putting the challenges of the community on the political agenda, strengthening the community and changing public opinion. To achieve the set mission and goals, Tbilisi Pride uses visibility policy as its main tool.

We present to you the overview of Tbilisi Pride in February 2024:

  • The organization celebrated its 5th anniversary with community members and supporters. Within the framework of the event, Tbilisi Pride together with the guests recalled and summarized the past 5 years and talked about future plans.
  • In February, Tbilisi Pride prepared two articles for community members, their families and supporters: 10 Myths About LGBTQ+ Issues: What Queer Family Members Need to Know and 5 Tips for LGBTQ+ Community Supporters.
  • In February, “Tbilisi Pride” organized two community meetings:
    • Meeting with Mandala: Drug Policy and Harm Reduction — During the meeting, representatives from Mandala provided attendees with information on issues such as new psychoactive substances, harm and risk reduction, overdose and response techniques.
    • Social media with Lado Mkheidze — the meeting discussed topics such as homophobic bullying and ways to deal with it, growing dependence on social media, the importance of prioritizing mental health and authenticity. Attendees also received practical tips on how to shoot videos, what to avoid and what to do, how to get noticed online and how to produce diverse content despite algorithmic norms.
  • Within the framework of the Proud Families project, the organization received a second stream of parents and/or other family members of LGBTQ+ people. Within the framework of the project, families will get to know and strengthen each other, benefit from the services of professional psychologists and receive support to further empower their queer family members.
