This year’s line-up of Tbilisi Open Air

In the last 15 years, the festival has hosted more than a thousand artists, and you will hear many good musicians this year as well – there will be music that will suit to any listener on different stages. In addition to rock bands, art pop, hip-hop and jazz, you can listen to electronic music on the night scene, presented by Khidi club and Zion Garden.
In this article, we will share with you the 5 musicians and bands that we were most happy to see among the Tbilisi Open Air performers.

M.I.A.

DANIEL SANNWALD!

M.I.A will perform for the Open Air listeners. Born in London to Sri Lankan parents, the artist is distinguished by a variety of musical genres and sounds. M.I.A mixes elements of hip-hop, R&B, electronic music, pop and folk from various cultures in her work, creating a trans-global experience.
M.I.A’s musical and other artistic pursuits (initially becoming known for the visual arts) were defined by her biography. She was 6 months old when she moved to Sri Lanka with his family, but she became a refugee at the age of 11 – the Sri Lankan civil war forced her family to leave the country.

Her musical career dates back to around 2004, when his first singles became popular in the London underground scene – Sunshowers and Galang are excellent works, in which the voice of an artist with diverse experiences, inspired by different cultures can be heard.
She has already recorded 6 albums. We especially recommend listening to her debut album – Arular or her second album – Kala.

Lebanon Hanover

Isolde Woudstra

Berlin-based Larisa Iceglass and Newcastle-based William Maybelline met on a music social network where they shared 80’s music recommendations and were united by a common taste. In 2010, artists who became friends on social media met each other, and Lebanon Hanover was born. Since then, they have been a successful duo for more than a decade and have created one of the outstanding projects of the post-punk, goth and underground scene.

Larissa is a vocalist and guitarist, William is a vocalist, bassist and synthesizer. Inspired by 80’s gothic music and post-punk, the duo has recorded 6 albums, several EPs and singles.

AURORA

Norwegian musician AURORA’s successful career and recognition began with the EP Running with the Wolves released in 2015, followed by the debut studio album All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend in 2016.

The musician’s work is inspired by electro-pop, folk and art pop, and her distinctive, soul-touching voice is unlike any other. In addition, she plays the keyboard and percussion herself, and is involved in music production.

La Femme

La Femme / Youtube

La Femme is a French psych-punk band formed in 2010 by musicians Sacha Goth and Marlon Maniet, later joined by the rest of the band members.

Their work is inspired by European music genres, cold wave, European pop currents, yeyé and of course, punk.
For now, the band has recorded 5 albums and 4 EPs.

Mechanical Rainbow

Mariam Svanidze

Mechanical Rainbow is a Georgian rock band that creates music in the genres of progressive indie, synth pop and psychedelic rock. There are 5 members in the band – Dadu Donadze, Davit Shavdatuashvili, Tsotne Baghdavadze, Nini Bendianishvili, and Dima Diasamidze.

The band’s soft, melancholic and nostalgic music will surely make you happy, and make you want to listen to it again. Mechanical Rainbow is not at the music festival for the first time, but this time the band is waiting for listeners on the main stage.
